Proteas, the uniquely beautiful and resilient flowers that bloom in a diverse array of shapes and colors and shown in the cover design, only grow in very specific and special climates. Kula, on the slopes of Haleakalā, is one of the few places in the world and in Hawai‘i where the non-native proteas thrive, and the flowers are often associated with the Valley Isle. Cades Schutte stands in solidarity with people across the globe who have joined together to assist the people and communities of Maui. We have contributed both donations and pro bono legal services to the Hawai‘i Community Foundation’s Maui Strong Fund, as well as volunteer assistance to those impacted by the fire. We will continue to support the rebuilding, healing, and remembrance of this tragedy. Maui nō ka ‘oi.
About Kahala:
Kahala is a family-owned aloha shirt brand founded in Honolulu, Hawai‘i in 1936 and the first company in Honolulu to switch to factory manufacturing with the intent to export and wholesale aloha shirts.
