Cades Schutte and The Cades Foundation were recently featured in ‘Iolani School’s Report of Giving 2016-17 for the continued funding of the Arthur G. Smith/Cades Schutte Scholarship Endowment Fund. The Fund, originally established by J. Russell Cades and C. Frederick Schutte in memory of founder Arthur G. Smith, has grown to one of ‘Iolani’s largest scholarship funds, and has provided financial support for more than 200 students over 44 years.
Cades partner and ‘Iolani alumni, Colin O. Miwa ’74, said, “When I started at Cades Schutte so many moons ago, one of the unique things I noticed was the involvement of the firm’s most senior partners in academics, the arts, and medicine in Hawai‘i… Their individual values became part of the institutional mission, and, given the firm’s ties with ‘Iolani and the Episcopal Church, Cades Schutte via the Cades Foundation has continued to support education at ‘Iolani, through the scholarship fund, as well the arts, and the promotion of justice in the broader community.”
