In the spirit of community service and legal empowerment, Cades Schutte attorneys dedicated their time and expertise to sponsor the Honolulu Access to Justice Room (ATJR) for the month of May.
For over a decade, the firm has sponsored the ATJR for a month each year. This year’s volunteers included Trever K. Asam, Michi Momose, Mark K. Murakami, Kristin S. Shigemura, W. Keoni Shultz, Ellen R. Ashford, Pōhai Nu‘uhiwa Campbell, Nathaniel T. Dang, Jarrett A. Dempsey, Darene K. Matsuoka, Caitlin M. Moon, Reyn S. P. Ono, and Michael R. Soon Fah.
The ATJR was started in 2012 as a resource for self-represented litigants grappling with legal challenges, ranging from landlord-tenant disputes to collections and restraining orders, providing them with much-needed guidance and support from pro bono attorneys. Cades Schutte’s involvement with the ATJR is a testament to the firm’s enduring dedication to social responsibility.
Reflecting on this ongoing partnership, Trever K. Asam, Cades Schutte’s pro bono coordinator, expressed enthusiasm, stating, “Our firm’s commitment to the ATJR is not just a tradition; it’s a reflection of our core values and our desire to make a meaningful impact in the lives of others.”
In a world where access to justice remains elusive for many, initiatives like the ATJR embody the power of collective action and community solidarity. Cades Schutte attorneys continue to uphold the fundamental principle that justice should not be a privilege but a right for all.
