Colin O. Miwa, Senior Counsel in the firm’s Intellectual Property, Construction Law and Litigation, and Bankruptcy and Creditors’ Rights Practice Groups, was awarded the 2021 American Judicature Society (AJS) Special Merit Citation. Founded in 1913, the AJS is an independent national organization which strives to protect the integrity of the American justice system.
The Special Merit Citation is awarded to projects and efforts that benefit some aspect of the judicial system, including those that are narrowly focused or time specific. Colin has been an active member of the AJS, serving on its Board of Directors since 2009 and actively participating on several of its committees: including as co-chair of the Standing Committee on Judicial Selection, Retention, and Accountability; co-chair of the Sidebar Standing Committee; and co-chair of the Special Committee on Mandatory Retirement of State Court Judges, and as a member of the Communications Committee.
He will be recognized together with the Honorable Ronald Moon (ret.), recipient of the AJS’ Herbert Harley Award, at the AJS national conference in Honolulu on November 22, 2021. See more information regarding Colin and the award on AJS’ website.
