Constitutional attorneys Jeffrey Portnoy of Cades Schutte and Robert Thomas of Damon Key Leong Kupchak Hastert were featured guests at a Grassroot Institute of Hawaii webinar on June 23rd, 2020. As Hawai‘i slowly reopens, Portnoy and Thomas considered whether businesses destroyed or devastated by the lockdowns have any legal recourse, and whether proposals being suggested to revive Hawai‘i’s devastated tourism industry, such as replacing the 14-day quarantines with various forms of testing and tracking, might violate constitutional privacy protections.
After short presentations, Portnoy and Thomas talked briefly with Keli‘i Akina, Grassroot Institute president, and answered questions fielded from the audience.
